SATA M.2 Adapter options?

Hello and good day. I accidentally bought a Sata M.2 thinking it was a 2.5" SSD. It is a Samsung 860 EVO 500GB (Got it new for 54€) Should I go for a PCIE Adapter card or rather a 2.5" adapter? I sadly do not have any M.2 slots on my board. Thanks in advance for reading this.

Depends on your cpu and mb.

Are you going to be upgrading anytime in the future?

I have a Z87 Asrock extreme4 with an i5 4690k. I will upgrade later to an i7 4790k and next year i will go with my Asrock Z270 and an i7 7700k but that board has m.2 ports for both psie and sata. But right now I only have the board so I will stick to my 4th gen

OLD thread, but very similar to what you need, same cpu at least, an adapter like that should work, no guarantees though.

Yes but I am using a Z87 MB and I am using Sata M.2 and not PCIe

I don't think I've seen a PCI-e card that allows SATA M.2 drives to run over the PCI-e bus as all the cards I've seen that have SATA M.2 support requires that drive to be directly connected to a SATA port on the motherboard, so getting a more standard adapter would be the better option in this case.
