What goes pop ?

I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place but I didn’t know where to put it.

 

So you’ve probably heard of the stories of people spilling water/drinks on there pc and when they turn it back on the here a loud pop or bang sound, what is it that actually makes that sound/ what parks could make an audible pop when covered in water.

Shorting most electrical components can make a pop sound if not smoke at the same time, say capacitors, IC, mosfets and so on.

Uhm I guess pretty much anything that shorts out due to the spillage?

I would say that it is likely the PSU or some other high-voltage component, since this would have the most electricity flowing through it, and thus make the loudest pop. Capacitors are also likely, since they store a large amount of electricity.

Usually capacitors overloading and literally popping.
