In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

Might i recommend Scorptec, cheapest postage and its all express too! trust me, if its got to be mailed, they'll be your cheapest, more expensive per component, but shipping is dirt cheap making total cost less!

And you don't want the gigabyte 280x, doesn't overclock to save its life, your lucky to get anything more then a 50mhz OC (only the rev1-1.2 7970 could OC and the 280x is a rev2.0 7970)

I've got a gigabyte WF rev2 7970 and a PowerColor 280x in my system, and the Powercolor is the much stronger card, plus comes with a really nice cooler and a backplate. really adds to the premium feel at a really really good price.

http://www.mwave.com.au/product/powercolor-amd-radeon-r9-280x-turboduo-overclock-3gb-video-card-ab53498 $369 (sorry about the no stock, my bad bought their last one ;) )

and using that extra $30 bucks you could get a Cougar CMX700W,
http://www.mwave.com.au/product/cougar-cmx-700w-80plus-bronze-modular-power-supply-ab49037  $99

Its semi Modular with flat cables (godsend for those not sleeving) and stable, runs crossfire eyefinity with a heavy OC on the CPU, and two 7970's/280x's at 1075/1450.
gives you room to impove with a second 280x in 8-10 months if you decide you're sick of sitting on the 55-65 FPS on max with 4xaa forcing you to use terrible vsync ;)

550 is enough, but its nice having headroom and the ability to expand later.
Plus with those two changes alone you're now actually under 1200 and your rig is now more open to future upgrades ;)

Mobo http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23623&cPath=1491 $105
You really can't go wrong with matx or an asrock in a budget build, asrock are actually really good unless you're looking to squeeze every mhz when OCing.

so that gives you about an extra $30 to do what you like with, 45 if you stick with your PSU, then a nice CPU cooler
http://www.mwave.com.au/product/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-cpu-cooler-aa16704 $ 39

and you've saved $6 for the whole build, and got a cooler, or have stuck with the stock cooler, have $30 saved and have the ability to upgrade later.
or you could do all the upgrades, and have only spent an extra $15 bucks, bigger PSU, equivalent GPU and Mobo and plenty of options for in 6 months when you're feeling the strain of whats effectively a 3 year card design now.

I must be feeling sick, I'm actually thinking budget properly, with my setups, i set a budget, then i pick the parts i want, and end up spending a lot more then my budget said:P

might save this list but, would be a good secondary build, gives me ideas :P

Rig 1 CPU: 3570K Motherboard: V Gene GPU: Power Color r9 280x at 1.35GHZ  RAM: 16 GB 1600mhz PSU: Cougar CMX 700W Storage: 1x Plexor M5S 256GB 1x 1TB HDD 1x 3TB GREEN HDD Case: Coolermaster HAFXB Cooling: Intel Watercooler
