So my motherboard died a couple days ago and I am in quick need of a new one. I get my next paycheque soon and basically I am feeling like I am just going to impulse buy the Rampage 4 Black Edition. I thought I should add, I am 16 and have nothing else to really spend this money on. Is this board really worth the $540? Let me know :P

You have a partially unlocked CPU. Don't buy the R4BE if you can't effectively use LN2 or some other exotic method of cooling.

Look for another motherboard that looks nice and buy that.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I would think not. When you buy a motherboard, your mostly paying for the features of the board. I would recommend a midrange motherboard like a MSI Z87-G45 or a Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H

$540 for a board is just overkill, just save up for something that's worth it. Like a car for example, or invest in stocks

When talking about building high end computer I don't like when people use the term "overkill". I feel lke "overkill" is the name of the game! Like come on! The more overkill the better in my opinion!

Buy a guitar. and rocksmith. and learn to play it. :P

I play guitar! xD

it's not a 100% return but hey it can work out... Like if you invest in a random bitcoin asic miner companies, those things gain momentum quite fast.

Unless you REALLY need the features and you're going to be overclocking balls to the walls, not giving a crap whether your CPU dies or not while you're overclocking, then you should get the motherboard. I don't think it's worth it.

But... Is it. Most of those features you will never use. (from what I can see with your current build)

It's only for bragging rights.

If you are doing an overkill system get the Rampage 4 Black Edition.
or if you are doing a black and/or other colour build as themobo is mostly black.
Are you upgrading you CPU? if not then just save your money and get the same mobo as before or something else like  ASUS Rampage IV Formula, then put the rest of the money towards something else.

This is my main rig and I plan to upgrade it quite a bit down the road, I love having things overkill even if I dont take full advantage of them. This is why I am considering this board. And I will be upgrading my cpu to the 3930k in the future so this would eventually benefit me.

Its just people with small screens or low res. I wouldn't worry. I have been told the same.

When do you play on upgrading? Q2 2014? Q3 2014? Why not get the 4930K instead? If you're going to be upgrading, why not get the newest processor?
