Hello. I have a really stupid question which will make you lough for sure 馃槀 A month ago, my ryzen 7 3700x died because of it's stock cooler (it worked for 6days from brand new condition) , atleast the pc repair shop told me that. They sad:聽

"It's the CPU that is faulty.
I have a very strong suspicion that it is the poor quality of the heatsink surface that has caused the CPU to die. The heatpipes do not sit flush with the surface - leaving gaps. This leaves local hotspots on the CPU which cause permanent damage through overheating. "

Luckily i got a new 3700x from rma with a new stock cooler aswell. Meanwhile i bought ryzen 3 3200g and im still using it for about a month with its stock cooler. I want to replace it with 3700x but i have a paranoia that it can die once again, im really afraid placing it with its cooler. Maybe can i use 3200g cooler with 3700x? Or should i invest more money and buy a water cooling system like h100 platinum to be safe? Im not going to overclock it or smth, just daily use and gaming. Thank you.聽

Dying after short period of use in perfect operating conditions is very possible, QC can sometimes let these things slip through. Keep in mind that at least for electronics, failure rates is in U shape in which very new units and old units have the highest tendency to fail.

Overheating wouldn't cause the CPU to die, it would just shutdown or thermal throttle.聽 Otherwise the AIO vs AIr Cooler debate would be a whole lot different.

Sounds like you either got hoodwinked, or your CPU failed in its own right.

Again, coolers don't cause CPUs to die anymore.

Why cant you just replace it under warranty if it only worked for a few days? 馃槷

In any case.. You dont have to go overkill with cooler, something like BeQuet Pure Rock 2 will work just fine, a step up would be Scythe Mugen 5 Rev B.

Oh i see you do have a replaced cpu, i just dont understand why you need 3200g xd

I used (still using) 3200g while i was dealing with 3700x warranty and now im asking if it is a good idea to run my new 3700x with 3200g cooler, because im afraid to get into the same story with 3700x again

I personally wouldnt use stock cooler with 3700x, but i wouldnt invest more than 50 us\eur either for a ryzen cpu.

Like i mentioned - Mugen 5 rev. b is very good choice noise\performance wise.
