hey my friend has a i3 3240 cpu and he wants 2 know if it will bottleneck if he gets a evga 760 4gb ftw gpu he is gona get a better cpu in a month or 2 but he just wants 2 no if this set up work work for like games like bf4

It will do just fine, but once he get's the new cpu there will be a large difference.

Yes it'll probably bottleneck a bit, no don't get a 4 gig card either.

An i3-3220 doesn't bottleneck an R9 290x in BF4 @ 1920 x 1200 so I doubt an i3-3240 would.

You should be fine, if you are going to get bottlenecks it is from using HDD's or random RAM issues.

I would get the 2gb version and its better to get the CPU you want now. You'll end up spending more money if settle for the i3 than upgrade later. So I would go with an I5 now and call it day. That mobo/CPU combo should be good for at least 3 yrs.
