First of all, hello forum! My name is Adrian, or Lent, as my username shows. I just joined the forums and hope to be an active member. Growing up around computers, I feel I have a decent amount of knowledge to be able to contribute at least a small amount. Still no where in the spectrum of an IT Professional, though.

Anyways, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to a cheap LGA 771 dual CPU motherboard(that is capable of RAID1), CPU Fans, and Supported RAM. I'm making a small render farm with 3 render nodes in a cluster out of some old Xeon 5168 processors I was able to pick up for $5 each (Yes, they have been tested and are in working condition). For the first node, however, I want to RAID two 500GB hard drives in case one of them fails during a project. Unfortunately, I'm a very broke college student, so my budget for each node is around $100. I already have the hard drives(cheap 80GB drives) and power supplies (300w) for the nodes.

Thank you so much in advance and I hope to have a fun and educational experience on the forums. =)

Welcome to the forums! I'm not quite sure about the mobo, but you should probably make a new topic in the CPUs, Motherboards, and RAM sub-forum for the motherboard question.

$40 per motherboard, I'm not sure how well that'd fit in my budget. In all honesty, it's the fans that cost the most. If anyone knows a way to Jerry rig different fans on, as I do have spare fans from other builds, that would probably save me the most money. Thanks for the input though, and I'll definitely post in the appropriate subs.
