FYI many many posts about this have already been made. A quick search would give you the answer.

With that said... every configuration will have somewhat of a bottleneck. Whether the bottleneck will be noticeable depends on the parts you pick.

I your specific case the answer is no. There will not be a noticeable bottleneck with an 8350 and a 780Ti

Did you pull that comment out of your fanboy ass?

Strictly speaking he's right. A 3570k still outperforms an 8350 for gaming performance the majority of the time, and a 4770k outperforms it in the vast majority of gaming scenarios too. That doesn't actually equate to much of an FPS difference (perhaps 5 at the most) for most modern games, but in significantly demanding single-threaded games it can result in noticeable performance gaps. Intel's per-core performance is superior to that of AMD's, which results in better performs for applications which only take advantage of 1 or 2 cores - which many games still do.

That said, the answer to the question is no. An 8350 will not bottleneck a 780 Ti.

Most comparable to an i5 4670k... ish.

And would the default choice for gamers listed above bottleneck this? No, I don't think so.

If that's what he means, he's wrong. I just interpreted what he was saying a little differently. :)

Well the thread question is 'Will a FX-8350 bottleneck a 780ti?' He replied 'Yes, you will get more fps with a 4770K'.

I know the second part is true, but by saying that it will bottleneck it is just madness.

Look, let's not get carried away with the "fanboy" bullshit okay? You just sound like a dickhead. Accusing other people of being fanboys does nothing to assist your cause and just makes you look like an idiot. If you disagree, use reasoned arguments and benchmarks, calling someone else a fanboy doesn't make what you are saying any more correct. It's like calling someone stupid in an attempt to make what you are saying more valid.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what we define bottlenecking to be. It's not a term that is very well defined. If the 4770K can do 5 fps better than an 8350 it's not bottlenecking apparently, what about if it was 10 fps better, or 20 fps better? There is no aribitrary point at which it is defined to be a bottleneck.

Thus, the only way I can answer the question of whether an 8350 will "bottleneck" a 780 Ti is to say that a 4770K will get better fps than an 8350. This is a true statement. How much? Go look at benchmarks. Is it enough to be defined as a "bottleneck"? Well each user can be the judge of that.

Well even the i7 bottlenecks the 780ti. If you had a more powerful processor, you would probably get higher fps, but such a CPU does not exist. And yes the the FX 6300 is comparable to the i5...

I wasn't being a dick, I was just pointing out that you said it would bottleneck it.

By bottleneck, I mean something noticeable. A Phenom II would be a bottleneck.

No, they're not.

Again, the 3570k outperforms the 8350 in the vast majority of games. Likewise, the 4670k outperforms the 8350. For gaming, the most comparable Intel CPU to an FX-6300 is probably one of the lowest-end i5 CPUs, certainly not the 4670k.

Who uses CPU boss?

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/111882-the-4670k-or-3570k-vs-8350-aggregate-comparison/?hl=%2B8350+%2B4670k+%2Baggregate

The 3570K is better than the 8350. So saying that the 6300 is better than the 4670K is completely false.

Quick proof - http://anandtech.com/bench/product/837?vs=699 Look at the 6300 vs. the 3570K as well.

Well, again, what is "noticeable"? That would depend on each individual user. I guess the question is just badly defined. Sure, you might say that 5 fps is not noticeable, and I agree with you, there is no difference between 60 fps and 65 fps. But how about 25 fps and 30 fps, I can attest that I certainly would notice the jump from 25 fps to 30 fps and if you're a regular gamer, you probably would as well.

Also, a Phenom II isn't as weak as you think, it has a higher IPC than the 8350.

He didn't even ask about the i7 though, you were just like. Yup dat AMD piece of garbage will bottleneck dat there fancy graphics card so use an i7 4770k, you will get better performance, even if it's $100 for 5fps, it's okay you can waste your money and I won't answer this simple yes or no question without starting a fight in the thread.

I never said "that AMD piece of garbage", I never referred to AMD, all I said was that a 4770K will deliver more fps, which is factual.

I also never said it would bottleneck.

I agree, but as one running an FX8350 (stock speed) + 2x GTX670 in SLi, I can honestly say that games run smooth when SLi works. I've played a good variety of SP games on this setup w/o framerate dropping to unplayable level.....not even once! The FX8350, whether faster or slower than an i5/i7 is beside the point, it would handle games easily enough. In any system, no matter how we strive for a 'balanced' system, there's always bound to be a bottleneck somewhere.....best we can do is to minimize it.

To the OP, whether an FX8350 bottlenecks a GTX780 Ti isn't the relevant question imo, what you should be asking is:

Would the FX8350 deliver good enough framerate (in tandem with a GTX780 Ti) in modern games?

Quick answer to that is an emphatic "Yes!".....

I have two Intel setups (3960X and X9650) as well as two AMD setups (FX8350 and AM2 A64 5200+) and I can say that the FX8350 hasn't disappointed me once.......in games and with video encoding.
