My pc won't display

This is my first time building a pc, I followed YouTube videos of what to do and went to power the pc on and everything worked but there was no display. Why? I have tested the RAM and GPU/PSU in another pc so they all work I have also tried different display ports and still just a black screen. I also went to take out the cooler and the CPU went with it and was stuck onto it I had to slide it off and ended up getting a tiny bit of thermal paste onto the pins near the edge and I cleaned it to the best of my ability and tried again and still blackscreen.

I got a Ryzen 5 3600 with an Asus tuf Pro gaming ATX motherboard,GTX 1060 6GB OC from msi, corsair 3200mhz RGB ram the GPU and 850w PSU are from a prebuilt Intel pc I have.

Honestly was devastated when it didn't work first time and I fear that the cpu/motherboard are damaged.

It is a B450 motherboard and the seller said that it is 3rd gen ready but I've just read the motherboard user guid and it said 2nd and 1st gen ready. Could that be the problem?

yes, it could be. if it supports 3rd gen, but not out of the box, it will need to have the bios updated using a 2nd or 1st gen.

it could be...b450 needs a bios update to support ryzen 3000s...if it's new stock usually comes with updated bios..if you're sure everything is connected properly then this should be it...

  • 4 months later...

I have the same problem and my pc and gpu ports aren't working for the display. My keyboard and mouse aren't turning on. I have a old pc with a nvidia 630 in it. I am not sure about the board but it was working before I unplugged and replugged my audio driver
