I need a motherboard for my Ryzen 5 3600 build, all the X570 are sold out right now, but I just heard they are dropping the B550 motherboard here in just a few weeks. should I grab up a X570 when they become available or wait for the B550

Why not just grab a B450 board?

True but b450 is at the end of it's road since Zen 3 won't support it and I recommend if you don't need a system right this second to wait for b550 unless your in dire needs then go for b450

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Well, the newer pcie version and the ability to get the ryzen 4000 is a thing with b550. The b450 is pretty much a dead end for upgrades unless its with the ryzen 3000 series only.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

CURRENT PC SPECS

CPU             Ryzen 5 3600 (Formerly Ryzen 3 1200)

GPU             : ASUS RX 580 Dual OC (Formerly ASUS GTX 1060 but it got corroded for some odd reasons)

GPU COOOER      : ID Cooling Frostflow 120 VGA (Stock cooler overheats even when undervolted :()

MOBO            : MSI B350m Bazooka

MEMORY          Team Group Elite TUF DDR4 3600 Mhz CL 16
STORAGE         : Seagate Baracudda 1TB and Kingston SSD
PSU             : Thermaltake Lite power 550W (Gonna change soon as i dont trust this)
CASE            : Rakk Anyag Frost
CPU COOLER      : ID-Cooling SE 207
CASE FANS       : Mix of ID cooling fans, Corsair fans and Rakk Ounos (planned change to ID Cooling)
DISPLAY         : SpectrePro XTNS24 144hz Curved VA panel
MOUSE           : Logitech G603 Lightspeed
KEYBOARD        : Rakk Lam Ang

That's only what AMD is saying. We've been told this generation through generation but older boards, and even A320 boards support current chips.

Because if he wait a couple of weeks, he will get a motherboard with PCIe 4.0 so it's worth it.

When did they say they needed PCIe 4?

b550 not exist. x570 is the best about future proof. Better than b550

Really?

Actual gaming performance is identical outside of that one benchmark? Not sure what you're trying to prove...

It's a nice feature to have if he need it later.

I'm gonna have to agree with @Slottr pcie 4 Is completely useless unless you writing and reading insane amount of data

Since gpus don't saturate it

Drives do and not in every case mind you

So it is a complete waste of money

But a reason to get b550 will be it's support over the years and the more robust power delivery options

What are you trying to say ??

The only difference between those two chipsets is that one supports sli and the other doesn't

And sli is more of a hassle than it is good

So why spend the extra money

Also wdym future proof

If your talking about platform compatibility then BOTH b550 and x570 HAVE THE SAME SUPPORT

Sounds like it will come down to availability, it's been slim pickings as of late on parts.

Yea this is Abit off topic

But I've been trying to build a rig my self and parts are non existing

So it really does come down to availability

Whats the problem with numbers? The sience rises its hands!😂

If numbers are 100% correct then

Pcie gen 4 has double the bandwidth as gen 3

Does it being double the performance..  no it brings identical performance

Which is something numbers DID not display
