F@H Larger than top 7 supercomputers? *edit: 500

I did a little looking around and wonder how they figure this? Is there some kind of difference between the teraflop calculation done on the F@H website vs the top 500 list?  Because according to what I've found F@H is faster than all 500 super computers combined.

 

Granted this is a year old for this information but I'm thinking we're far past the top 7

 

Maybe I need to find up to date information

 

*edit: forgot there is a difference between Tflops and x86 Tflops

You're absolutely right... FAH has so much power because of COVID.

In general for SuperComputers they look at double-precision TFLOPs whereas F@H does mostly single-precision calculations and so uses Single-Precision to calculate their effective processing power.

 

GPUs generally have really good Single Precision TFLOPs numbers but far lower Double Precision values.
