Yeah, this is definitely in the wrong section.

 

As for the HDCP, I don't know. You could just buy an HDCP stripper.

You can find HDCP strippers on certain online stores, though the ones I'd had favourited don't seem to be on sale anymore.

They all vary in price, some cost $100, some cost under $20.

 

Well, I just found one with a video of it working.

Elgato game capture HD is compatible once Sony release the patch.
You could strip it, but there isn't much point unless it is your job to get gameplay like a gaming YouTuber. Just easier to wait. especially if you already have an Elgato.

I am in the same boat as you @chimmychunger, i really wish the patch would come out.

I want to record games on the ps4 for my youtube channel, but it has an HDCP. Sony anounced that it would take it off, does anyone know when its being taken off.

get that HDMI splitter that was linked to you for $23

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

ive been using one for my ps3 for years. enough so that i play on my PC through the capture card. 

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). Im not sure if this is correct, but I've heard that you can use an HDMI to DVI cable to remove HDCP then get audio through the digital audio out. Someone please correct me if this doesn't work for the PS4, thanks :)

its possible. but why not have a single cable do the job through a hdmi splitter

Fair point, just suggesting possibilities which they may already have the equipment for :)

no body would be speaking about this issue for the past couple of years if the butt heads at sony got their shit together
