Hey,

I'm looking for a new Monitor to replace my old garbage 2x24" 1080p ones, I have been looking at the Samsung ones and I quite liked them. Maybe someone has some suggestions. What should it feature?

-21:9 Ultrawide

-1440p (the ultrawide version of that)

-plain design, nothing gamer-looking

-ideally more than 60 Hz

-ideally G-Sync (or is freesync compatible with a 980ti? Wasn't there something?)

It will be used for occasional gaming and photo editing, but I'm not super picky about the colour accuracy. It just shouldn't be terrible.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Freesync is only compatible with 10 series and up. Granted I would strongly recommend upgrading your GPU for UWQHD. I have a 2080S + 3800x and I am frequently only in the 75-120fps range depending on the game.

As for recommendations I have the LG 34GK950F. It's absolutely amazing. I dare say one of the BEST UWQHD monitors on the market. I also believe it does have a G-Sync option, but I have the Freesync. It's 3440x1440, 144hz, 1ms response, Freesync, and amazing colours. The design has a little but of red in it, which I'm not a huge fan of, but it's really not "gamery" and I would say it fits in anywhere. It just has a...unfriendly... price point. What's your budget?

Thanks for the answer, your monitor looks really goog and has nice features. I am relatively flexible with the price but I would prefer to not spend 1000€ on the monitor. (Lets say 600-700 max)

Also I will leave the GPU for now and wait another two or three years before I build a whole new computer. Still have an i7-4770K and in combination with the graphics card it is still enough for me at the moment.

I love my AOC Ultrawide, but I think any Ultrawide is a good investment.

I second the idea of upping a GPU/CPU setup.  it's a lot of pixels to push, but worth it if you can swing it.

Just out of curiosity what is your current FPS in games?

I was briefly looking into the MAG341CQ. It's honestly nothing special, and overall isn't that great of a monitor it seems, but its a good price and is Ultrawide.

I'd say one of the most common, and popular is the AW3418DW. Since it's Alienware the stand might be a little "extra" for some, but I honestly wouldn't consider it bad. It looks fairly nice, and it's got absolutely nothing on ROG monitors. It's not a bad price, great specs, and I think it might be VESA compatible (a great option if you find a monitor but don't like the stand. I'd recommend VESA mounts to anyone.)

Sorry for the super late answer. I get around 60 (+- a bit) in GTA V (on Linux tho), which is what I am playing mostly.

BTW does it make a difference that I'm running the GTX980ti in PCIe 3.0 8x?

So far i've found the iiyama gb3461wqsu-b1 which should come out in a few days.

That looks actually really good. Does anyone have it already?

I also looked at the Samsung C49HG90DMU (32:9, 144Hz, 1080) but I think that 1080 pixels are not enough for a monitor that size.

Any other suggestions? Thank you so much!

1080p is perfect for that Samsung.  It's stretched width-wise, not height.

I mean...1080 on (basically) a 27" screen is not a lot, especially for text, thats why I would prefer the 1440 version which is again around 1000€
