Hello,

I recently upgraded by internet speed to 300 mbps. Until now I've had about 100. I have an ethernet cable 5e and no cap on the ethernet port (https://gyazo.com/31cc846b025078c76360eaf6b773b0b3) as you can see on the screenshots. For some reason the internet speed when I test it still gives me around 100/105 mbps download. I tested the cable by connecting another PC and it gave me about 280 mbps (working just fine). I just wanted to know some tips to fix this.

It seems to be something very particular with this PC.

What is the make and model of your motherboard? What is its NIC adapter?

My motherboard is MSI Z270-A Pro (MS-7A71) and I'm not quite sure how to find the NIC adapter.

Well it looks like it says it has a 1 gb Ethernet port. Are you sure its connected to the right port? Because it says it has a 10 mb and 100 mb port as well. I would also consider upgrading to a Cat6 cable for the hell of it. Most if not all Cat 5E cables come with no additional protection from any electronic interference. I'm assuming yours are Unshielded Twisted Pairs, and I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't getting the speeds you are paying for if that's the case. This could also be a case of your service provider just ripping you off though.

There's something wrong with this system.

Ok, well, you might have to do some tweaks to your NIC adapter and see if that works. The link below shows you some of the things you can do.

Are there any in particular that you would suggest? I have no clue how editing the different properties might impact my system.

🤔 Well you have a different NIC adapter than mines, so it might not even have the same features. But I'd try disabling all the settings that say "Large Send Offload" and TCP/UDP "Checksum Offload". You can also try increasing the "Transmit Buffer" setting to 2048 and the "Receive Buffer" to 512 if it isn't already. This is as high as it will allow you to go and it won't be a problem as long as you have enough system ram. Lastly, make sure to check the "Speed & Duplex" settings to see if its actually set to 1 gb, or 1000 mbps. It might already be set up that way, but I'd check it for the hell of it.

Worst thing that can happen is nothing - but this tool has preset speed tweeks that will effect the registery.

I dont think it will have a preset for 300, but it has an option to enter your own speeds
