AIO or Air for next build?

For the next build, I'm gonna get a 3700x/3900x with a X570-E from Asus.
Currently have a i5-9600k which spits 80C at 100% when overclocked to 5ghz.
My work flow is cpu dependent and load is usually 85-100% the whole time. I have a H100i Platinum from corsair to squeeze every extra temp for cooling.
Now, that I have seen what NH-D15 and other big boys can do, should I get a beefy air cooler or go all on custom loop.
Notes:
It will a one time total upgrade, at least no upgrading unless something that boosts a lot and touch only for maintanance purpose.

for 3700x/3900x custom loop is not worth it. for the price of custom loop get r9 3950x and be quiet dark rock pro 4/NH D 15

 

those two aircoolers beat  most of the 240mm aio's

the 3950x will have slightly low snappy feel than the 3900x/3700x due to condenced cores and more heat.
Or should I go threadripper?
Or should I wait for Ryzen 4000 for compatibility and longevity confirmation?

actually the r9 3950x is so well pinned that it runs cooler than r9 3900x and uses less power than r9 3900x at stock. yes it will use little more power and heat than r9 3900x when oced but aircoolers for 3rd gen ryzens are good enough.

This tells me that you might not know what you need...

What are you using your computer for?

 

In regards to cooling, air all the way. It's cheap and it works very good- usually with less noise.

Currently fluid simulation using blender and some some content creation.
Gonna run also as a server for me and my bro

AiO look cool but perform poorly if your CPU it's constantly pinned and the loop doesn't have time to dissipate the heat, they're better for situations where you CPU might have spikes of high temps, like in gaming, or general day to day usage.

In your case i'd go with a beefy air cooler, like mentioned earlier the Noctua NH-D15 or beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4, and consider getting a better CPU while you can, if all you do is workbench then consider getting a 3950x or a base line Threadripper 3960x, but overall cost of the build will increase considerably.
