So with Dell Finally unveiling the new xps 15 and 17 sometime this year, hopefully sometime in May(please let it be so) I'm torn again on wether I should grab the 15 inch or get the 17 inch, part of me wants the larger screen, but another part of me says that since it's going to be mostly a college/general use laptop that it won't really matter too much if I get the 15 inch, any opinions/suggestions?

I'd strongly suggest waiting for detailed reviews before buying a device from one of the most problematic product families (Dell XPS) on the market. So far 90% of released XPS laptops have had some sort of issue, some bigger than others, but many many users have had issues ranging from thermal throttling, power throttling, VRM throttling, DPC latency, screen ghosting, trackpad issues, driver issues (Kaby Page G), BIOS issues (almost all) so you REALLY should wait for reviews

I'll keep that in mind, I don't get the money to buy it till early June or late May, so I'll see what happens in the interim, but in the case the new xps doesn't turn out a solid option, what might you recommend?
