Electronics in sunlight

How dangerous is it for a device like an iPad or laptop to be used in direct sunlight when it’s 74F/23C? What do you do if you’re getting some outdoor time and want to work on your device? I’m definitely getting tanned rn.

 

I once had my iPhone 7 turn off and display an unsafe temperature warning but that was above 110F/45C.

That is generally true but I believe that engineers designing laptops are aware that the laptop is going to be used outside and that there is summer and sunny days, I believe that worse case scenario is that his CPU will throttle while fans will work at the maximum settings to compensate for that extra heat.

Apple products have thermal shut down limits like you mentioned and laptops will just throttle/ run the fans at a higher rpm to compensate. I wouldn't worry at all. Devices don't just kill themselves from overheating. The only bad thing I could think of is leaving a device on your dash in a car in the sun as the Lion/Lipo could expand and then rupture causing a fire.

That is generally true but I believe that engineers designing laptops are aware that the laptop is going to be used outside and that there is summer and sunny days, I believe that worse case scenario is that his CPU will throttle while fans will work at the maximum settings to compensate for that extra heat. 

I definitely noticed throttling on the iPad Pro.
 

I’m more worried about how sunlight rays can degrade the screen and the glass.
