just a suggestion, feel free to change that case (probably a good idea, just dont know what you like)

Im looking at making a budget editing rig for my dad who likes to do editing as a hobby. He is more into corel draw but does use Vegas editor once in a while.

What build could you suggest for this use and my budget is around NZD 1500. Will need everything from case to cpu to storage etc.

If possible use parts that can be purchased from either of these 2 sites:
www.computerlounge.co.nz
www.pbtech.co.nz

Cheers!

Edit: -for storage dad has a 1tb HDD is his current pc that can be moved over so just need an ssd, a 500gb could do.
- i dont mind any form factor and a stealth build is more suited, dad doesnt like rgb.
- a case with an optical drive slot would also be good as dad likes to play his favourite game, starcraft(original old school) every now and again.
- budget can go as high as NZD2000 if my brother responds and agrees to go halves as this is for my dads birthday/early fathers day gift.

Bad idea, laptop has worse price-to-performance. Given his budget, not a good option.

Wont need peripherals as dad already has them. Will upgrade them in due time but will do for now. His pc is about 8 years old so will really need an upgrade, so I thought ill build him a simple rig that will allow him to do his editings.

its all based on what program you use, some like cpu more, some like gpu more, some gobble up ram.

im not 100% but vegas seems to prefer gpu

What about corelDraw as dad uses it alot more than anything else? Dad only uses vegas as my brother showed it to him and he has since played around with it making montages of family videos so
