OLED if I had my choice

qled is still an LCD just a better version of an LCD, still using the same LED backlights though.   I believe the OLED is overall better, where each individual pixel makes its own light, no need for an individual backlight strips and the ability to make a super thin display housing.  easier to break?, I have no idea...

and honestly, I do not like the extra HDR and vibrance stuff, I usually turn it off.  It makes stuff look fake

OLEDs are more expensive too.

I went with a 2019 LG OLED because of the G-sync compatibility and HDMI 2.1.

It is now my #1 monitor.

The setup is purely for entertainment and it is a good match with my 2080 ti for 4k gaming. If I want a higher refresh rate I drop the resolution to 1440p and get 120hz.

The HDMI 2.1 is for 120hz 4k and I will need that with the next graphics cards I buy.

The G-sync compatibility works almost as good as the module in my 1440p 144hz monitor and much better than Freesync with a Nvidia I have on my 38" LG Ultra wide.

I am planning on replacing all but my 38" ulta wide with OLED TVs. I am just waiting for a price drop since I payed a $100 less last black Friday than the price they are now.

For varied 'normal' TV usage an OLED is perfectly fine.

You can currently find the 55" last gen (9), and maybe even the 8 series OLEDs up for 'cheap' (for an OLED).

The current gen (which is in the process of releasing) the CX, is more expensive and has some added updates and the subjective opinions of some people is that this gen is brighter than last gen, making HDR pop more.. but if its just for normal TV use u can save money and get a C9 for example.

QLED are also ok for normal TV usage, they become rather crap once game mode is activated though as they loose local dimming. In the end though OLED is just straight up better.

Me personaly, im goign to be getting the LG CX 48" , likely once the price drops as im not to comfortable with the release price, but i will be getting it one way or the other, my Plasma is on its last legs and really needs replacing. It will be used as my primary and only PC display, for Movies, browsing, and gaming.

I've done some research on OLED vs LCD (QLED = LCD + Quantum Dot Layer), and what I have come to conclude is the following.

OLED burn-in happens when the display is left at high brightness with static images. If you're using the display in a very bright room, it's probably not a good choice. In all other scenarios, OLED is the way to go.

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3D || GPU: Gigabyte Windforce RTX 4090 || Memory: 32GB Corsair 3200mhz DDR4 || Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk || SSD1: 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 (OS drive) || SSD2: 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO SATA (Cache Drive via PrimoCache) || Spinning Disks: 3 x 4TB Western Digital Blue HDD (RAID 0) || Monitor: LG CX 55" OLED TV || Sound: Schiit Stack (Modi 2/Magni 3) - Sennheiser HD 598, HiFiMan HE 400i || Keyboard: Logitech G915 TKL || Mouse: Logitech G502 Lightspeed || PSU: EVGA 1300-watt G+ PSU || Case: Fractal Design Pop XL Air
