Should I upgrade?

I have a i7-7700k and a 2070 super and I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading my cpu? I would be willing to go amd because I have a aio water cooler. Thanks!

that doesnt make any sense. AMD ryzen 5 or 7 cpu's run cooler and use much less power than your 7700k or newer intel cpu's

 

but you shouldnt upgrade now. wait 5-7 month for ryzen 4th gen. and upgrade then if you like. 7700k is still good for gaming at 1440p and 4k. it runs pretty well in 1080p.

AMD would run cooler than your current CPU - you could sell the water cooler

As for an upgrade - wait for Zen 3 in September. That's where the massive jump will come from for you.

You'll benefit from an upgrade provided you're playing at greater than 60hz, but I'd wait for the next gen processors to come out at least; if you can, waiting until AM5 might be an even smarter choice. The 7700k will still suffice if you're not pushing super high refresh rates.

What? No they don't. The 7700k uses 5 more watts. Hardly anything.

 

 

It won't be that long for the next Ryzen processors to come out.

Why? He'd still need a cooler, if he already owns one he might as well keep it.

Take a look at that. There haven’t been too many games released in the past year that are even more CPU intensive, so this is still a fairly accurate look at how the CPUs perform today.
