Hi, so I got windows 10 as a free upgrade since I had Windows 7 in the past. Now, I would like to fresh install windows 10, but I have questions. If I wipe my entire disk, and install windows 10, do I put my windows 7 key to activate it? Was there a generated windows 10 key that I can use? Or will I need to install Windows 7 >> Windows 10?

Thank you!

If you signed in with your Microsoft account then it will use that to active during the install. I think it will check the servers for your hardware ID first but if not and you are prompted you just put in your Win 7 key I believe.

Windows Settings->Update and Security->Reset->Reset This PC

That allows you to wipe your entire disk, it reinstalls Windows and IIRC it also maintains your Windows activation since Windows 8 if you do that procedure.

But doesn't this keep updates, registries, etc? It does the same as a wipe + fresh install?
