CPU bottlenecking gtx 1080?

Hey all,
I’m looking to upgrade my CPU ( intel core i5 6600k OC’ed to 4.5ghz) . Was playing the new cod and noticed it was being used to the max. It’s already overclocked to 4.5ghz. I know it’s the cpu because when I close out everything else, especially discord, I get a noticeable improvement in FPS. I’m not sure what I should get between the i5 9600k or ryzen 5 3600. But obviously it’ll suck switching to ryzen because I’ll have to upgrade additional stuff then. I wouldn’t mind getting something more than the i5 9600k but would it be necessary and would I notice the difference? I’m looking to keep it all under 300$. But if I stay under that price would I still be bottle necking my gpu?
My current specs are

•GTX 1080 fe (OC’ed with aftermarket cooler)

•INTEL CORE i5 6600k ( OC’ed to 4.5ghz)
•16gb ddr4 2400

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

well you wont be able to keep it under 300$ if you upgrade to a 9600k because you would need a new motherboard as well. Your best option if you want to keep it under 300$ would be to find an i7 7700k.

Socket type isn't the only contributor to compatibility, you need to look at chipset as well
