Hi! i resently build myself a new computer and was expecting a bit of a fps gain in csgo relative to the old computer. As of right now i only get 100 fps when encountering other people or a smoke.

My Specs are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (OC to 4,0 Ghz)

GPU: ASUS rog strix 5700xt

Motherboard: ASUS b450 f rog strix

PSU: 650 W

RAM: Corsair cl16 3200Mhz XMP 2.0

Windows and csgo is installed on Corsair mp510 m.2 Nvme

I have seen alot of people with less powerful computers with more than dubble the fps. looking on how much power csgo takes while playing, its only like 15% cpu, 20% gpu? shouldnt it be more?

I have changed my power settings, and nothing happend. Also its almost no difference in fps between the different graphicsettings in game.

When looking up benchmarks with similar specs i get about half the fps.

Other games seem to run fine, i just feel like i should get alot more fps in csgo.

Appreciate all the help i can get!

Follow up to help get an idea.

this guy runs a benchmark in cs with more or less the same specs, i should get about the average fps that he does. His average fps is 501. When i performe the same benchmark with the same settings i get 200 fps in average. thats a big diffrence.

are you running the benchmark at 1024x768 @ all low settings?

yes. i tried higher settings aswell and got about the same.

is your CPU boosting to high frequency when you are playing?

according to ryzen master one or two cores run att about 3,7Ghz - 4Ghz.

Is Multicore Rendering turned on in the game's settings?

No it wasnt, holy sh*t im dumb. i did a new benchmark and went up to 350 give or take. im still running on all low settings and 1024x 764, so 350 i still atad bit low. but on the video i linked above he runs a r5 3600 overclocked to 4.2Ghz, could that be the difference to why he gets 150 fps more?

I doubt that an extra 200MHz will get you 150 more frames per second, but tbh I also doubt that you'll feel a difference between 350 and 500FPS in-game.

If you're not sure whether your overclock is fully stable or not, as I mentioned above, try and rerun the benchmark at stock speeds and see if that changes anything.

ill post here in a few minutes when im done

Generally it's better to overclock in the BIOS, rather than using Ryzen Master from what I've heard. That being said, Zen 2 chips don't have a whole lot of overclocking headroom anyway so you might be better off leaving it on auto and maybe enabling PBO and let that do its thing.

Also, if your OC is not stable, you might not get a BSOD like with other CPUs, but your performance will drop, so when you're overclocking slowly increase the core multiplier and check if your performance has actually increased at every step, using a reliable CPU benchmark like Cinebench for example.

i see. this was the first time i've done anything like this so i just checked what some other dude did. ill try to bench the base clock now

i've tested my OC and base clock now. they both seem to perform simmilar. im gonna do some more tests.

is your memory set up right? XMP/DOCP on, correctly in dual channel?

Ah CAs# latency (CL) is 22 there, shouldnt that be 16? my memory sticks is CL 16

that latency is insane

that could be the problem

disable xmp/docp and manually enter the rated values, and bump dram voltage to 1.35v and your SoC to 1.15

this is how it looks now. the timings look good. iwasnt able to set the soc to 1.15, it wasnt leting me bump it up and the dram was default 1.35v

this acually didnt change my fps. im still 350~ . Dont get me wrong, i know that i cant see the difference between 350 fps and 500 but i did pay a substantial amount of money so i would like to get everything i paid for

Did you use XMP/DOCP to set your RAM speed or just change the speed and leave everything else on Auto?
