So I have a Ryzen 5 1600 AF and arctic freezer 34 eSports duo and planning to buy a MSI b450m pro vdh max. Can I overclock the processor.

Yes, you can overclock on that processor and board. PBO will do a little, but especially on the 1600af you'd probably see more benefit from manual OC-- I'm not sure the 1600af even supports pbo, and in any case that processor can usually OC to 4.1-4.2 GHz or more.

just enable PBO and let it auto tune itself.

At least in my experience, PBO is not reliable on this motherboard. I have the same mobo, but a R7 2700X and it randomly hard resets under load. From what I understand, it's the VRM's at fault, as I have ample cooling (240 radiator) and there is no bluescreen crash dump or any events in the Windows event viewer.

**EDIT**
I also know it's not PSU as I have tried with an 800 watt unit and it does the same thing (I have a EVGA 550 G3 regularly)

That sounds like a defective board, not an issue with PBO as the sensors track the VRM state and tune the clocks and voltage in accordance
