Hey, this is going to be my first time building a pc and I have tried my best to research each part but I still feel like I need a second point of view on the build.  If you guys could help me find a compatibility checker, send some changes my way to increase performance or even decrease the price it would be greatly appreciated!  I am going to use this pc for gaming (CSGO, PUBG, Fortnite, COD games, Battlefield and some more,) all of my high school and future college work including computer programming classes and some video editing programs.  Any suggestions to edit this build would be nice, list below!

$80 MBD: Micro-ATX MSI B450 PRO-VDH MAX (AM4 Socket, 64GB) - says it only supports up to 3466Mhz ram so I downgraded from 3600Mhz

$170 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

$230 GPU: GTX 1660 (Super)

$85 RAM: HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR4 @3200Mhz

$50 HDD: Segate Barracuda 2TB @7200RPM

$65 SSD: ADATA SU800 512GB 560MB/s

$60 Case: darkFlash DLM21 MESH

$25 Cooling fans: 5-pack 120mm ARCTIC P12 PWM PST - plan on doing 3 intake front fans and one rear exhaust fan

$0 PSU: I already have an 80+ Bronze 500W CoolerMaster power supply which I'm hoping will be enough because I just recently bought it for my current pc

$0 Monitor: I already have an ASUS 24" 144hz monitor that I bought years ago but sadly hasn't been put to any good use with my current pc

$0 Keyboard: I already have some giant SteelSeries Apex RGB keyboard from years ago that's kind of crapping out but I'll deal with it for now.

$0 Mouse: I already have some crappy, shattered RGB Logitech mouse from years ago but I'll deal with it for now.

$765 Total: Pre-builds I was finding for much more expensive had way less performance and their cases looked horrible for airflow, mostly focusing on RBG nonsense.

I went on UserBenchmark to compare most of the items in this build.  Hopefully they are accurate but here is the build on their website.  (Ram is different because they didn't have the 3200Mhz listed)

Also going to include my current pc for reference that is mostly original from the 2010 HP Pavilion desktop + GTX 950 that I added years ago and a new CoolerMaster 500w 80+ Bronze PSU.  As you can probably tell, playing games is quite troublesome along with any demanding homework right now.

use pcpartpicker. looks like a good build. you can get 3600 ram, it will work.

Ok, pcpartpicker just seemed too complex to me at the time of starting research.  I'm more of a visual learner so I preferred looking at statistics, graphs and comparison videos.  Thanks for the feedback on the RAM choice, I'll go check their website now!

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Arvensus/saved/MQ3Bcf - I tried to make the build on pcpartpicker and it is saying their are some compatibility issues..?  I'm almost positive this CPU works with this motherboard/

I'm not sure if $765 is a hard budget or if you can spend a bit more or not but just something I put together:

I swapped the motherboard for a step up on the MAX line to give you some better headroom for new CPUs down the line if you want to upgrade later on and do some mild overclocks.

SSD and HDD are just placeholders and match about what you listed for the price so no changes there.

I did look at the 5600XT compared to the 1660 Super and, if you can stretch the budget for it, it would probably be a better buy BUT if you're set at the price listed then the 1660 Super is still going to be a great card.

I looked for a good airflow case and this one comes with two included fans so you could possible toss a single fan in there. You definitely don't need five fans.

It does, it's a catch all warning because most B450 motherboards run the risk of having an incompatible BIOS, however the MAX line of boards came out later with basically the sole purpose of having the BIOS size and support for the 3000 series CPUs as some B350 (and I think B450) boards didn't have a large enough BIOS to support the later revisions which added support for the Ryzen 3000 series.

Ok, great!  I'm just now seeing your comment and I may be able to scoot budget around slightly depending on how quickly I can start working again >:(

Cool, overall you have a great original build there just some preferential tweaks more than anything :)

I'm just a huge fan of that case I chose because it is the only one I could find with a swing-able glass door but it doesn't have fans included unfortunately.  Also, I've heard many people criticize AMD graphics cards for being less reliable than the Intel counterparts but honestly it seems like AMD is taking the lead in everything so I'm not sure.

Fair enough point on the case. There were definitely a lot of driver issues which, from what I've seen, have since been resolved as far as the GPU department goes so they are definitely on the up and up but for a while there I doubt anyone would recommend them just because the drivers and software was so bad. The 1660 Super is a very capable card as well though and I would totally understand wanting to stick to something with a more proven track record for drivers.
