So I recently bought an RTX 2070 which has been working wonderfully for me so far. However, there are certain games like Far Cry 5 which I am having some difficulty with. When I max out all of my settings with 1440p I get around 50 to 70 fps. It would frequently jump high and low so I decided I would lower the graphics a bit, However I saw no change. Even when I play at the lowest possible settings at 1080p, I only get around a 20fps increase in game play. I realized this is because when I am playing my GPU usage only stays around 50% to 60% and I am not utilizing it fully. My CPU stays around the 30% mark, and I use about 60% of my ram. Is this because my CPU is bottle necking my GPU? I have a Ryzen 7 1700, but I think that it cannot keep up with the rest of my system which is what is leading to my low utilization. I also have the latest graphics driver update and bios. I would appreciate any help on the issue, thanks!

Specs:

Motherboard: MSI B350 Gaming pro

GPU: RTX 2070

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700

RAM: 16GB DDR4 DRAM 2666MHZ

SSD: PNY 120GB SSD

Hard drive:1TB Barracuda

Power supply: EVGA 750 GQ, Gold 750W

far cry 5 is not really optimised for high fps gaming. it's a AAA single player game and most of them are made to run at 60fps.

That might be true, but when I compare my performance to other videos of other people playing at the same settings, I see a vast difference. They get far more utilization and their fps can be higher by up to 30fps. The only difference I seem to see is with the CPU, which is getting higher utilization than mine is as well. I'm thinking that the CPU can't keep up, I just wanted to confirm this, and make sure it might not be anything else. This also happens with older games like Batman: Arkham knight, where people with the same GPU and settings tend to get 30 or 40 more fps.

your cpu can keep up, but due to its slower speed (ghz) it can lag a pit.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

might squeeze a bit more performance from the cpu by getting a 3200 kit or trying to overclock your current kit to 2933

Yah my RAM doesn't have very high speeds. It seems my only options are to either do that or upgrade the cpu.

I just increased my speed from 3ghz to 3.6ghz and I saw a clear difference in performance, although it still doesn't seem to be utilizing it fully. Seems like at this point the only other thing I could do is overclock further or upgrade the cpu.
