Best sync solution for folder to external drive

What are the "best" modern alternatives to SyncToy out there today? My task is very simple: I want to run a folder to folder sync operation at the the end of every day to back up data from my local drive to an external drive. Doesn't have to be automatic. I just want a solid, dependable, trustworthy application in the vein of SyncToy. I would use that but it doesn't look to me like there is a version for Windows 10. Thanks!

grsync? grsync for windows and setup a scheduled task?

FreeFileSync. As long as path remains same, you can save operations to run. It has automation too, but I haven't used that.

I noticed that app while searching. I also saw reports that it used to contain adware/malware. Is it safe in your view?

I haven't heard anything like that. Google shows stuff that is 2 years old. Usually, like with CCleaners issues, these are related on site you download from or crapware embedded with installer. I'm using donation version because of portable edition, so even if there would be another ad in installer, I wouldn't know about it.
