Hello world,

Im planning on building a pc and i need help with what size aio i need. I plan on getting the 3700x. Would a 240 aio be enough or do i need to go up to a 360? 240 would be better for my case (cougar conquer 2), then the top three can be exhaust fans, or should i go with the 360 and just have all intake fans.

Thanks!

A 360mm can be better but it's far from necesssary. A 240mm can be plenty for cooling. What kind of features are you looking for in a cooler?

Where are you shopping / located? Budget?

Im not a fan of the big bulky air coolers.

And online shopping, in canada and 400. I really like the ryujin espically with its additional fan for cooling the vrm

If you're looking to save some money, the Liquid Freezer II 240 also includes a cooling fan for the motherboard: https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/Congélateur-liquide-ARCTIC-Liquid-Freezer/dp/B07WSDLRVP

Also comes in 360mm if you want more performance: https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/Arctic-Cooling-Liquide-Congélateur-tout-en/dp/B07WNJCVNW

Would a 240 aio be good enough then to cool a stock 3700x? And keep it at the cooler end? Like 60 ish-70 ish

from a 120mm aio to 240mm aio, performance gap is massive.
From 240mm to 360mm aio, the gain is not worth the price.
So, get a 240mm aio.
I have H100i Platinum from corsair which is a 240mm aio.
My i5-9600k is at 5ghz @1.3v with max of 75C at 100% usage. I am running it without any dedicated gpu.

Aio is a good choice for those who doesn't like bulky solutions.

That's pretty low and may be achievable depending on fan speeds and ambient temps. If you don't plan to run high fan rpm to do so, a larger 360mm would probably be needed for that.
