Can you explain why  Corsair CXM (2015) 450W PSU isn't enough for single GPU?

Sure, according to your sig, you got it in 2015. That's 5 years worth of work and degradation, I doubt it's pushing 450 watts any more, probably closer to 400, and new GFX cards are power hungry.

No, my new PC is built in Dec 2019. Everything is new... I know 450W isn't an option, and I need GPU badly. Any opinions for NVIDIA GPU?

if u using a AMD card i would upgrade the psu first.

nvidia cards aren't that much power using as amd cards what means u can stay a while with a nvidia one (i recommend to upgrade psu with gpu together) and upgrade the psu later.

  • 2 weeks later...

What's about 5500 XT?  Is it power hungry? I refuse to upgrading my PSU till give me a honestly reason for this. I never overclocking anything except changed XMP.

I would go for the rx570, you can get them for a steal at Microcenter if you time it right. I got mine for 129$. Your PSU should be fine, but if you want anything added later you may want to relook at it then. The PSU is the easiest thing to brick a whole system with if it fails, that's why everyone is so on about that, but from what I can tell you should be fine, just running under peak efficiency. (most power supplies operate at peak efficiency at 50% sustained usage, giver or take a few points. If I remember right. )

Interestingly. So that why I need to get better and more powerful than my PSU, but my PSU is new and hardly running up to 150 watts.  I  looking forward to 5500XT than RX 570. It should be better than last generation GPU.

If you can catch it on a good sale I say go for it.  I tend to wait until a graphics card is below $200 before I consider it.
