It is small, but the CPU is soldered, plus the bloody thing is $3100!! Now if they made STX boards with a PCIe x16 slot.

Well it's 3100 dollars if you get it with a GTX 2070, a 320GB Intel Optane SSD, another 2TB SSD, 16GB of RAM and the most expensive version of Windows 10 consumers can buy.

You're definitely paying a large price premium. I mean, it's 1640 dollars for a CPU, motherboard, case and PSU. The lower end models have better value, but they still suck value wise.

High end parts usually cost a price premium.

Small form factor parts usually cost a price premium.

The two together adds up to a very high price premium.

If it was a normal STX board (if they had a pcie x16 slot)  or if the NUC had a normal CPU socket where you could get a cpu of amazon to upgrade it, the perfect small pc. A mITX could prob be around that size though.

Welcome to the world of specialized PCs. They cost a ton of money, especially if you want great power in a small package. If compromise on size and power consumption is something you can make work, it's very easily doable for far cheaper, but if you aren't trying to compromise on anything, it can get expensive.
