Hi,

Whenever I download large files or whatever, my PC starts "lagging' as hell"

I already checked A LOT of solutions to this issue and only one works : setting manually the number of cores in msconfig.

For info I got a nvme intel ssd, core i7-6700K (4 cores, 8 threads), 16Gb ram.

My problem is that setting the number of cores to 4 manually actually halves the bench score I get on CPU-Z.

I don't understand why this trick actually works, and why after this, 4 cores actually looks like 4 threads.

Any advice ? thanks.

Seems like your OS is having cross-thread problems...

When did the problem start happening?

I can't tell when it started, it has been the case for a long time eventually for ever, and what made me really look into it is that I upgraded my Internet connection and it got worse.

For further info, my mobo is a Hero Alpha VIII with Intel® Ethernet (I219-V) with up to date drivers.

For the SSD, it's an Intel 750 series 400 Go nvme 2.5".
