Is my RAM faulty?

I have recently built my first pc and my RAM automatically sets to a very low frequency and every time I attempt to set its clock to 3000MHZ (its advertised clock speed) my pc crashes and I have to do a CMOS battery reset. I am assuming that there is something wrong with it but just want to make sure before I complain about it to amazon. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you simply enabling XMP in the bios or manually configuring your sticks?

make sure you have the ram in slots 2 and 4. enable xmp. profit.

Edit: if xmp doesn't work, manually set frequency to 3000 and dram voltage to 1.35V. no wonder your pc doesn't boot with 3000Mhz at 1.2V
