My pc has twice shutdown under load. I have used the psu powerbutton regularily to shutdown all power from my pc. I have recently noticed that it makes a crakling sound while I turn the switch and my pc either turns on or not. Though today I think it died when I tried to dust out my pc with canned air. Tried my older corsair cx600 and it goes into turn on and off cycle. I have ordered a new psu. But I wonder what really happend and I hope the rest of my pc is ok..

Also in the future.. Is there a way to eliminate the standby power bs?

you definitely could be at risk of having the rest of your system or parts of it fried. The only way to be certain is when your next PSU arrives.

NOTE: I AM NEVER ALWAYS RIGHT, BUT I AM HAPPY TO HELP ANYWAY I CAN

I should add that when I dusted it with the canned air I did it in short bursts and left it with the side panel off for atleast 30min. And the psu had acted out earlier. So I dont't think I caused any condensation issues.

When I turn off my pc it still keeps some lights on and as it is in my room I don't like to sleep with them on.

You can disable that in your motherboard's BIOS.  All but the RAM's RGB (if you have it) should turn off when the PC is in standby.

You should look into doing it that way.  Mechanically turning your PSU on and off by it's main power switch is not how ATX PSU's are engineered to work.

I tried to peek at the insides of the psu and nothing looks broken. The switch connector points might be a little scortched. Hard to say. I have no intentions on opening that thing though. Electricity to me is just black magic. I know what has been thought to me but it makes no sense. Me caveman 😂

Seems silly enough though that if it just isn't getting contact. Using the switch then just creates an electric spike and mucks the connector? I know that that psu has opp, ovp, uvp, scp and ocp protections. Don't know how good they are though.

After a reboot I only got to as far as taskmanager and it said cpu 100 and got super choppy.. Then after a visit to bios not changing anything it lost my boot ssd.. booted back with a different sata cable in a different slot and im back running. Ima leavi it to do a full virus check and take the dogs out. Oh and I did remove the old 4gb ram stick but i might just put it back if everything goes fine as it might still be funtional 😛
