External hard drive files showing up in Gibberish

So my toshiba external hdd 2TB had files of about 100gb or something. Around an year ago I tried connecting it to an Android phone when I don't know what happened but the hard drive got corrupted or something now all the files are in gibberish and after searching help for the whole time I found nothing useful and have some important data that is not backed up anywhere else. Please help everyone.

Take it to a trustworthy data recovery center.

How important is the data. Try another PC. Are the drivers installed correctly. Try plugging into a sata port

I'd try recovering the partition with TestDisk, you'll need 100GB worth of space elsewhere

And how much is that?,

The price they ask could be reasonable.
