Got my new computer coming tmm and need to know how to install windows , ASROCK H81 BTc Pro and I’m using a HDD from a windows 10 desktop, is It possible if I boot from that drive it will start windows?

You should be able to plug an existing Windows 10 drive in and it should work. So yes, if your old drive has Win 10, it likely has the drivers needed to at least get on windows update and download new drivers for audio and video etc.

If that doesn't end up working, you would need a USB with Win 10 install media on it. You can go here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO for an ISO from Microsoft. They also have a tool to create an instal USB, but if you get that ISO, you can use rufus (google rufus) to create a bootable USB drive as well. Either way works, just a different way of going about it.

Would the same key work

Yes. If you have an existing Windows 10 harddrive, plugging it in to a different PC and turning it on will not require you put the key in, it will just boot up exactly how it was in the old machine, hopefully.

If you do end up having to reformat, yes, the same key will work.

I would tie your key to your microsoft account, I have had good experiences with that in the past. When you swap motherboard or something, it can get mad at you for a hardware change. But if its tied to you MS account, you can go online, say "I changed hardware" or something like that, and then it will let it transfer to the new motherboard. This isn't always needed, but it can sorta "randomly" happen. This basically just helps you do it yourself, and not need to call MS if it does say you need to validate due to new hardware.

Good that you ask this question, beause plug 2 cables and turn on computer is so difficult that only experts can do that. :)

Man, just try first - it's really easy. Then ask if something goes wrong.
