Black screen after GPU upgrade.

Just recently upgraded my media center from a GTX 770 to GTX 1080ti, but now there some weird behavior.  Every time I use the volume controls or the xbox one light up X button the screen goes black and then comes back with the refreshed changes. So far it only happens when in fullscreen mode(using Kodi or playing a game fullscreen).

When I was using the GTX 770 I was using a DVI to HDMI cable because when I build the computer the HDMI port on the 770 was giving me a signal.

Once I put the 1080ti I had no choice but to use HDMI (using a 4K rated cable).

What could be causing this behavior with the 1080ti?

Also, I had copies of two movies that for some reason looked horrible in Kodi after I installed the 1080ti, but they looked fine with the 770. They also looked fine when played with VLC on both cards..

Below:

Same movie file, same time code, both with the GTX 1080ti. Top is Kodi bottom is VLC.

Difference in the base line Gamma setting maybe?

there are same games I have to increase the gamma in order to play them, but then have to turn it down or get blown away with sun bright screen (especially if there is any white say in the browser screen)

I found the issue in another post, apparently the problem is, 1. Kodi doesn't play HDR content (I found an updated version that does).

2. Windows HDR setting are on and this causes the black screen when creating an overlay in full screen mode.

I guess I will have to live with it until MS fixes it
