So my buddy has a problem with Escape from Tarkov.

He can only run on woods. we know the problem is his RAM. he only has 8GB at 2666 speed.

My question is what settings should he use in order to play Tarkov at a reasonable quality without his RAM usage being completely maxed out?

Game settings really do little with RAM. Like graphical details are more about GPU and VRAM than RAM. Best way to make things better is to get another 8gb. Since 8gb (and 2x4gb) is starting to be bit too little for modern games.

Way to help RAM usage is to close background software. In game, places where there less stuff around, less objects, less assets for game to load will mean less RAM is being used.

Side note, that game does use a ton of RAM for some reason. I think it’s optimization problems are to blame but I’m not sure. I have a 32gb kit installed in my rig and I do see around 14-18gbs of usage. In the latest patch it does seem to be better around 12-16gbs and I did notice a “RAM cleaner” option in the menus.

but maybe check that option is selected restart your game and follow the previous comments about turning off as much background stuff as possible.
