Hi so I'm looking at building a solid pc I need a pc for light work and while I'm at it would like to get into pc gaming, with videos and such I have built something that looks ok. I have about 2000 to spend. My build so far

Corsair carbide 275r case

Msi b450 tomahawk

Ryzen 7 3700x

16gb ram

1tb m.2

2tb mechanical drive

corsair tx750m

Be quiet dark rock air cooler

As for the gpu I'm torn between a 2080 super or the 2070 super. However I have seen people saying to wait for the 3000 series gpus. As I could really do with a pc to work form home at the minute I cant really wait. Although i wonder if a 1660 super would be a good shout  as this would save me like 600 pounds now, that I could save and sell the 1660 when it comes out to get something with a bit more power.

I am looking to play games like tarkov cs go arma 3 and insurgency

Thanks for help in advance.

Hope this is the right thread first time posting.

I just finished my build with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 1660 super. The 1660 super is a great gpu, I'm getting over 100 fps in games like Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six and CS:GO is in the 200-300 fps range. I'd definitely recommend it if your looking for good performance. Now, it's no 2080 super but if you need a GPU now, I'd say go for 1660 super.

Thanks sounds good would you say find a company to build it or would you source the parts and build it yourself I like the warranty but itll be like 200 more also I'm new and wont really know what to do.

Thanks again

I just started researching and watching a ton of Linus' videos and formed opinions about companies and products I liked then ordered the parts and built my own. Building a PC isn't as daunting a task as it seem, it's just a matter of knowing what you're doing. You're definitely capable of doing yourself and it's a fun project to work on and pick parts. I'd recommend PC Part Picker to help you keep organized and see what parts are compatible. Also come to this forum with questions as you go, there's a lot of super smart people on here that know way more than I ever will.

Jamo, for £2,213.52 on part pickers:

Ryzen 9 - 3900x

Geforce 2080ti

16gb 3000 ram.

Think about what you can upgrade tomorrow...ask yourself - do you need it now?

If you do not need it now, then can you pour that money into performance instead?

It is easy to buy more storage, more ram, better fans etc. later on, but it isn't so easy to buy a better CPU or a better GPU because of the initial high investment cost.

I didn't buy any storage with my machine, because I can get that later, if you have some old drives that will 'do for now' then make do for now.  You can buy another NVMe drive later on but one will suffice for now.

If you want a company in the UK, I made a thread detailing all of the main ones, with a spreadsheet setting out their prices for both an i9-9900k and a Ryzen 9 - 3900x with a 2080 ti.

It is here:

Bear in mind prices fluctuate, but it is a good starting point in my view.

TL:DR

OverclockersUK, Chillblast and Scan are all expensive.

FiercePC, PC Specialist and Gladiator Computers are all very well priced almost indistinguishable.

Final conclusion: PC Specialist had the most options and you can send your own case - I sent a Core P3 to them.

They were all over £2k to be honest, I think I paid £2,357 and I supplied my own case and I bought their cheapest storage as I had some from an old build (NVMe/SSD etc).  However, I did get a damn fine PC with Ryzen 9, 2080 ti, 16gb 3600mhz RAM.

Just remember to save yourself £100+ by taking off the Windows option.

The difference between building yourself and buying from a company is relatively small and I just considered it insurance - if something breaks, they replace it.
