i need some guidance, please help me upgrade my CPU below is my current system i game on

ryzen 5 1600AF at 4.1 ghz on all cores replaced a faulty 2700 that had to be rma'd with amd. got the 2700 back and sold it to help pay for a cpu upgrade

16gb 2x8 gb ddr4 3000mhz with custom timings

360mm aio

512 gig ssd

4tb hdd for games

5700 sapphire pulse

750 watt seasonic focus gold psu

my original plan was to save up my money and upgrade to a 3900X and keep the 1600AF as a backup cpu

but now newegg has the 3600 on sale for 174$

im torn on what cpu to upgrade to my choices are below. please dont tell me more cores isnt better for gaming, im just looking for peoples opinions. put yourself in my shoes and help me decide i value your opinions here.

no i dont wanna wait for ryzen 4th gen i just wanna upgrade to a cpu that will allow me to game for a few years

 

also as you can see my current system run ACO poorly hence one of the reasons to upgrade

3900x seems like the best deal now, higher core count CPUs naturally get worse price per core but this time it somehow doesn't

I mean... Unfortunatly, it is the way it is.
IPC and single core perfomances are just way more important. So, apart for frequencies, if you go from 3600 to 3900X, if you're just gaming : You won't have significative upgrades. Because it still Zen 2 cores. 

I think you have to give more details on specific use case to really chose the best CPU.

Like for exemple :
Light streaming / editing ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) but mustly gaming : 3600.
Oftenly editing / streaming while gaming ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) : 3700X.
Serious streaming / editing ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) ( if not pro ) while gaming : 3900X if not 3950X.

I would just dismissed both 3600X and 3800X, which are poor value for bucks compared to their respective little bros 3600 and 3700X.

Wrong, the cache, frequency and extra physical cores Vs SMT make the 3900X about 15% faster in games than the 3600
