Hi all, not sure of the best place to post this but I am planning on doing a setup upgrade. Looking to upgrade my GPU, monitor, and get a VR kit. Currently I have an i7 7700K, 32GB TridentZ RAM, an Asus Strix GTX 980, and two Dell monitors (one is a 24" 1920x1200 60Hz and the other is a 20", maybe, 1600x900 60Hz).

  • GPU
    • I was thinking of getting an Asus Strix 2080 (non-Ti or super) but wasn't entirely sure if that would be my best option for my CPU. Mainly I just need it to be able to run my monitors (including the new one I get) and VR.
  • Monitor
    • I would like to get a 1440p 144+ Hz monitor but there are so many I don't even really know where to start. I'm pretty comfortable with my 24" monitor right now but I think I could enjoy 27" so anywhere between those sizes would be perfect.
  • VR
    • I know there are a lot out there so not too sure where to start. I've had a little experience with the first gen Vive and liked it but I also know that Oculus has some really good stuff. So I'm leaning towards either the current Vive, non-pro, or the current Steam VR compatible Oculus.

As far as cost for all of this, I'm looking at spending around $700-$800 for the GPU, $400-$500 on the monitor and about the same on VR. My budget isn't super set in stone but I'd like to get everything for well under $2000 if at all possible.

Suggestions and opinions on all of this would be greatly appreciated.
Also is this even really a good time to do an upgrade?

Thanks!

dude we need to know what kind of games you are going to be playin. If you are playing fallout 4 VR then go for that 2080, but there are other options depending on what you play

@WambleCroppedHonestly not too sure as to what VR titles I'd be playing but I mostly do a lot of single player games. Prey, Shadow of War, Borderlands, etc. It'd be nice to have the option to play something like Fallout 4 VR or Half-Life Alyx but stuff like Blade and Sorcery would more than likely be the main type of stuff I use VR for.

@va7icana55asin I would say go for an XT 5700 or an RTX 2070 depending on your fanboy preferences xD
