Forgive the stupid question but I am a complete novice who built his 1st PC 3-weeks ago. I have a Ryzen 3700x with an EVGA 1660 Super SC Ultra Gaming and I think I want to upgrade to an EVGA 2070 Super or a 2080 Super XC. Do I simply shut off, unplug, and swap the GPU's? Or, is there something additional I need to do? Also, any advice on where to resell my 1660 as its brand new though without the original box? I doubt Amazon will take it back without the original packaging. Thanks!

Yep, you got it. Make sure you update to the latest drivers if you haven't already. The new GPU should just work, however, if for some reason there are issues then uninstall drivers with DDU and then reinstalling the latest ones will get you up and running. You should not have to do that though.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Always use DDU to remove the old drivers beforehand. Else you'll have software issues as Windows will attempt to overlap and make a mess

Okay, So, another stupid question then. When do I uninstall the old driver? While the driver is still in the PC or with no GPU in the PC?

Run DDU in safe mode, it has an option to remove and shut down. Use that then take the card out to prevent windows from auto installing crap

After running DDU in safe mode and clicking remove and shut down, I just put the new GPU in and then go to Nvidia and download the latest driver and I'm good to go?

You should download the right driver installer beforehand and just run it as soon as the PC boots with the new GPU. Again, Windows loves to autoinstall crap
