I really want to get some white lights for my rig, and I want the lighting as even as possible.

My main problem is... LOTS of LED strips have a sort of... "Spotlight effect" where the lighting isn't even, because it's brighter every inch since the LED's are spaced so far apart.

I don't know diddly squat about cathodes, but I do know they can be much more even lighting, but I've heard they don't last very long and can sometimes have issues with un-even brightness levels inside the cathode, where half is brighter than the other half etc.

I've heard a bit about icemodz LED strips, but it still sort of looks like that "spotlight effect" I described before.

Any suggestions?  I'll need 2 ~20 inch strips if that helps at all.

^That would solve your problems. Don't get cathodes.

Edit: Didn't bother looking around for colors but something like that should be available somewhere in white.

Cathodes just glow and don't give off a spotlight effect. They'll give you pretty even lighting, though I don't prefer them, maybe the subtle glow LEDs?

Edit: ^^^^^^^ that seems like your best bet.

Cathodes colours degrade over time and their length is not modifiable. Also not as bright in most cases.

You can get cheap led strips exactly like the bitfenix led strips on ebay for super cheap from China, you just have to wire them up yourself as they don't come with molex or fan header plugs.

Glad I looked it here. I am thinking of putting lighting in a Corsair 540 with a liquid cooling cpu-gpu loop.
