1080p vs 1440p

MeilyrLynch

Last year I built my first PC and since then have been using a 1080p, 75hz monitor I had lying around and recently have been thinking of upgrading. I am unsure whether to go with a 1440p 144hz or a 1080p 144hz. Here are my system specs-

-Ryzen 5 2600X (stock)

-Reference RX 5700 flashed to XT bios (OC'd to 2080mhz)

-16gb Corsair Vengance PRO ram at 3200mhz

-AsRock b450 Steel Legend

I was wondering, even if i can't push 144fps at 1440p on every title, should i just get that monitor anyways and live with the fps so that i don't have to upgrade my monitor down the line, or should i get the 1080p one and therefore be able to hit the higher fps with my system.

FYI i've never really experienced 144hz before so i don't really mind "low" fps like 60 or 75.

You'll be fine pushing around 100+ on a 1440p. I get around 100 on RE2 Remake with 1070 Ti OC'd 2012mhz.

1440p 27" or 32" is night and day from a 24" 1080p 75hz monitor I upgraded from.
