I’m kinda new in building my PCs

but

would I need to install/update bios

once I get my Ryzon 5 3600 with my RX 5600xt?

or would all that stuff be good to go

BIOS update depends on the Motherboard and not the CPU.   If the motherboard is 3rd gen Ryzen ready, then you should be fine.    There are always BIOS updates that can be necessary outside of CPU support.

Yes according to the MSI web-site that board should be Ryzen 3rd gen ready.

You will still want to verify your BIOS after you get the motherboard.   There is a BIOS update on Nov 11, 2019 that improves system boot up time.   However, most likely the board you will get will be already on that BIOS version.  When I bought my MSI B450 Tomahawk Max board a few weeks ago, it came with the latest BIOS already installed.

looking on the site says it does support Ryzen 3000, but not sure if that means it will out of the box. It does say there's a bios flash button on the back io, so I'd suggest looking into how that works if that's required.

@Randy B What Inceeption9269 is true.  We have no way of knowing 100% that it is Ryzen 3rd gen ready.  I believe it is because of the manufacturing date and that no BIOS upgrades are listed for Ryzen 3rd Gen support.

However, just in case it is not,  MSI put together a handy video on how to do a Flash Bios ->

Oh really ?? I didn’t know that. Did u own one And that’s how u know ?

The MAX boards are updated versions of MSI's B450 line-up. They released after Ryzen 3000 and they all support it out of the box. No need for a bios update.

Alright thanks man, Umm actually one more question do you think I should get a cpu cooler for my Ryzon 5 3600x ? Or should I stick with the default one that’s in the box

First of all I would get the 3600 instead of the 3600X - the extra cost is not worth it imo. And yes, I'd stick with the stock cooler for now. It's free and you'll get it anyways, why not use it and see how it goes? Most people are happy with the cooling performance. If not you can always change the CPU cooler later if you feel the need to.

Like Shinramen said, don't get a 3600x, it's literally nothing more than a factory overclock. I guess technically it could be considered a better binned version of the 3600, so you might be able to get an extra 100mhz on the overclock, but you're better off with 3600. My friend got one and I OCed it to 4.2ghz using a 120mm AiO water cooler, and it works perfectly fine. If you want to save money you could stick with the stock cooler, then upgrading to a ~$50-70 cooler down the line, and should be able to pull off a 4.2ghz OC no problem.

4.2ghz in my experience is a pretty safe and stable OC for the ryzen 3000 cpus that I've had my hands on. As far as overclocking goes, the only thing I can say is you'd be better off looking up guide videos on youtube, it'd be more helpful since you can see and here what's done.
