I've never built a PC so I have a few questions before I get started:

  • How do you install windows? I'm only expierenced with pre-builts with windows alreday installed. The only times I've installed an OS myself was when installing Ubuntu Server on my two servers. For this process though I used a CD, therefore I'm not sure how to do it with a USB or other device.
  • Do CPU's normally come with thermal paste, if not what kind do you guys reccomend for an  AMD Ryzen 7 3700X?
  • Do case fans connect to the motherboard or PSU?

Thank you!

1. Get the windows media creation tool from the Microsoft website and let it make a bootable usb (usb has to be at leas 8gb)

2. A cpu cooler comes with thermal paste. If using the included cooler then it's already preapplied onto the cooler

3. Depends on the fan. Anything new or not super cheap connects to the motherboard (3 or 4 pin fan header) whilst there are some that have a 4pin molex connector. Some also have both and then you only connect one of the 2 (preferably the small 3 or 4 pin connector).

Sorry one final question, if the cpu cooler has thermal paste on it already, do I need to apply paste to the cpu?

Psu? That's your power supply. I think you meant cpu cooler. No you do not have to apply any thermal paste to the cpu if the cooler already has it on it.
