How good is the Sennheiser HD 558? Can you guys that owned it tell me how good it is?

Its all right, amusingly enough the HD518 has a better bass response, so if that matters to you, save your self the cash and go for the 518 (Which uses the same driver!)

i had hd598 and people say those two sound very similar. It sounds pretty nice, very open and clear.

Well one says HD518 and is slightly more closed off yielding a better bass response. 

The HD558/HD598 cost more.
