I've recently built a new pc and bought a new tv for my living room and Ive decided to use my old pc and tv in another room as a HTPC. At the moment the hardware is setup fine and works but i'm just using a mouse and keyboard to change what watching but I plan on buying a remote.

What I want is a "Smart TV" style program for the pc with the options to open Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify etc. I wont be playing anything stored locally other than DVDs.

I've googled without much success, I've seen Plex and Kodi but neither do what I want. Does such a program exist? Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks.

Yes...I remember a browser that was specifically designed..based on firefox, iirc...for this I'm gonna need to go searching for it, but I'll get back to you.

(This was how stuff like rokio and others started..apple had a really nice interface...stage or backstage or something...it was really slick)...

EDIT: Front Row was apple's interface..it was cool.

Kylo browser is what I was thinking of...I used it for a a while on a media pc i had.

Don't know if it's still an ongoing thing or not, though... but it was designed to be a big interface on tvs.

Could using ChromeOS style OS be an option? If your main goal is to use streaming services. Most HTPC software are optimized to use local media, and quick search says that using streaming services with Android device over HTPC using Windows is preferred more. Whereas using ChromeOS or similar which is essenatially Android on PC. In best case giving easy navigation on "small" screen and bunch of Android optimized apps for streaming services.
