Depends on if there's a size requirement or not, as well as the caliber of hardware you intend on using. Got a budget? Intended performance target?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

GPU rtg 2080 style and in line the CPU but not owerkill. I have no budget and im not in to rgb or extra styling to add cost. So to saa smart fast silent with a tight but qualitative build.

best noise level cases roundup from gamers nexus:

https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3534-gn-awards-show

so I went with the S2:

No mechanical storage for reduced noise, nice huge cooler for low CPU temps and fan speeds, and a nice quiet PSU.

Now, the GPU is not my first choice, the Duke line from MSI are in my experience some of the quietest GPUs, but they seem to be all out of stock. If by chance a local retailer offers one, you should consider that.

Look at my sig. Add Noctua fans to the case and people will stick their heads right next to the machine and ask if it is turned on.

Noctua’s I have always used in most my builds, they are grate but they still have quit a lot of sound when the cpu is somewhat working. And when you have 5 fans ther is the part of vibration sound. Water is interesting because of the heat movement capacity contra the amount of fans and pumps. Less movement = less sound and vibration. I need to sleep with this computer next to my ear.

Can you give examples?

I think linus did a video on a fully passive cooled pc once or twice, most of the time ces tho. For a cooling loop, I use an ek 360 thicc rad and corsair ml fans (wouldn‘t reccomend buying because of the horrendous price, just for rgb rad fans ;)) and my 9900k @5Ghz runs warm, but not hot for a 9900k plus its not really loud. I use an open case btw, so adding a sound dampening case might do the trick for an aircooled system :)

I get you, but literally. Dude literally put his head one inch from the PC and asked if it was turned on lol. This case have sound dampening panels if you didn't know. I have no way to accurately measure the noise but I dunno.. Sounds pretty quiet to me. Of course, this case supports 360mm rad in the front (and it will be behind sound dampening material). Because airflow is restricted I use 2x Noctua and 1 Corsair ML120 at the front, at the top in front of the CPU I have a ML140 fan to help out when I game.

Thanks for the input! Take readings with your phone?

Yeah I did with my Smart Tools app but when it hits below 40 dB.. I can't get readings much below that because the fridge over in the kitchen is 40 dB (advertised) and there is no door between here and there. There is a little wall though but that don't help much.

High 30's is the lowest I can measure and that is the reading I got. So yeah, pretty quiet. Which is one of the things I wanted for this build. If you want even more quiet with the Phanteks P400 there is also the version without the tempered glass.. it has sound dampening material on both sides also in the front, just a tip.. ;)

I just played me a little game of DOOM Eternal and my sound meter app went between 40-50 dB. Phone is one foot away from the side of the PC. On idle its going between 35-40...
