Building PC

Hello, i have built a computer for a friend for 1500e (which is his budget, p.s: the prices here are higher than other places). Here is the list, does it seem alright ? Or do you have any suggestions to swap something.

Asus 1070 Strix
R5 3600x
B450 Tomahawk Max
Hyperx Fury DDR4 3600 (cost only 10e more than 3200 of the same brand)
Samsung 860 EVO Basic(250GB)
Seagate Barracuda (1TB)
Noctua NH-D15
EVGA G3 650W
Case P400A (any other suggestions for case?)

Sadly, he doesn't want any components from second hand even though i proposed that to him already.

If going used on the GPU see if something better is available.

The R5 3600 is nearly identical, if the price is similar I would get the 3600x, but for 30 more might not be worth it.

Make sure your kit of RAM is CL16, get a 2x 8GB 32000MHz kit or faster of CL16 memory.

Major overkill on the cooler, waste of money, the 3600x is not a hot chip, get something smaller like the Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 (not the Pro), even a Cooler Master Hyper 212 is good.

Good PSU, motherboard, and very good case selection, cases with good airflow are going to yield better results.

Samsung 860 EVO Basic

Can't imagine these are quite cheap, last gen graphics cards are often very expensive. What is the cost of this 1070 compared to a 1660 super or 2060? Samsung SSDs are always overpriced for a gaming PC, cheap western digital blue or Adata XPG models could be much better value.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I like it.  Good choices, except do you know there is a cooler included with the Rysen 5.  You shouldn't need more than unless you are planning to overclock.  So you could cut out the Noctua NH-D15 and go for a more current graphics card.  Any reason to choose the 1070 GTX over and RTX?  Just budget reasons I imagine?  Still a great card for the price.

I just got a Meshify C case and I love it.  Small minimalist design, plenty of space with none wasted, tempered glass window, good ventilation on all sides.  Looks similar to the P400A.

SSD is 50, but indeed the 1070 is 100e more expensive than 1660ti and looking at the benchmarks its either the same or 1660 ti performs better. So i would switch that

I dont want to buy 20xx series as they are generally more expensive due to rtx. He is not planning on streaming so overall the 20xx series doesn't seem a good choice imo

If the 2060 is the same price as that 1070 you were planning on (or cheaper) then it would still be worth it over the 1660 ti because it is a better performer in games, even ignoring RTX.

True.  Just ditch that cooler cause you don't need it (and it looks bad in the case IMO).  I have a R5 and the included Wraith cooler is just fine.  Its not a hot chip.  With that saved $ and maybe going from R5 3600x to 3600... you might find the budget for a RTX2060?  If not that then the 1660 TI or Super?  That series might even be the same price as the 1070.

Oh... and where is the RGB??? 🙂
