Recently ( Idk when specifically since I don't check BIOS/task manager that frequently), I noticed that my comp is running in "Single Channel Mode" for my RAM. Then, checking task manager, I see that only 8 of my 16 GB of ram is usable and the other half is "hardware reserved".

I have tried looking at my MOBO specs to see if I slotted my ram into the right channels and swapped the around. I have even tried doing the Memory Diagnostics test to see if my PC can detect any memory issues. So far nothing has worked. My bios detects both RAM sticks. The only thing I can think of is that previously, a few pins on my CPU have been bent. I have since fixed that and everything seemingly works fine. I just want to know if there's anything else I can try to get both my ram sticks to be available for use before I chalk it up to the bent CPU pins.

Hi,

you didnt mention the graphics card in use, just wondering if it was something like an msi RX480 8gig?

My son had one of those which mentioned on the box that it likes to take up-to 8gig system ram for its own use (although I dont know why exactly)

he had an amd fx 8320 8 core black edition motherboard with 32gig ram + the 8gig graphics card and it was using up around 24gig of ram (game + browser + discord + steam or which ever app + nortons all running)

current main system: as of 1st Jan 2023

motherboard : Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

ram : 16Gig Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz

OS :multi-boot

Video Card : RX 550 4 GIG

Monitor: BENQ 21 inch
